Way to say everything that need be said without uttering a single word, Kelly Monaco. In the October 24 episode of General Hospital, as Sam was wheeled on a gurney into an elevator on her way to surgery, her portrayer flashed the sign for “I love you” — a perfect means of acknowledging her fans on her way out.
“It was not scripted,” the actress said on X.
Kelly Monaco really chose love and did it in the most iconic (most Sam) way possible.

As you can imagine, the gesture left viewers with all the feels. Ariana Puzo remarked, “Kelly Monaco really chose love and did it in the most iconic, most Sam way possible.” And how. “Glad they didn’t edit it out,” added Scarlet Flame.
The Friday, Oct. 25, episode of ABC’s soap promises to be a difficult one for fans. With Sam going under the knife — and Monaco already having finished taping — she is unlikely to ever leave her hospital bed. Word that the Port Charles vet had been let go leaked in August. Her mom later confirmed that Monaco had shot her last episode.
What happened? That, we’re still waiting to find out. Monaco has promised to make a statement but thus far has only alluded to her ouster as “retaliation at its finest.” Fans didn’t take her firing lying down; they mounted an entire #IStandWithKelly campaign to save her job and even edited together a promo that revealed that rumors of Sam’s death had been greatly exaggerated.
