Adam J. Harrington Confirms ‘General Hospital’ Departure?
Adam J. Harrington made his surprise debut on General Hospital in February. Six months later, it looks like the show killed Jagger off for good. The fan-favorite actor seemed to confirm that he was off the show. Keep reading for all the details.
Sonny & Jagger’s Rivalry Has Deadly Consequences
John “Jagger” Cates returned to town in February after nearly 30 years away with a new face and an old vendetta against Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard.)
Antonio Sabato Jr. played the boxer-turned-federal-agent in the early to mid-1990s. Jagger was part of the group of teen and 20-something characters, which also included Brenda (Vanessa Marcil) and Jason (Steve Burton.) He was the older brother of Stone Cates (Michael Sutton.)
Jagger fell in love with Karen Wexler (Cari Shayne) and the two later married. But early in their relationship, Karen got hooked on pills and performed as a stripper at a club owned by Sonny.
Jagger’s reason for returning was to down was to take down Sonny as payback for what happened to Karen. (The character was later killed in a car accident on the spinoff Port Charles.) The show decided to replace the previous actor with Adam. J. Harrington.
Jagger first tried to use Jason in his scheme to take down Sonny. But then he switched his focus to Sonny’s daughter Kristina (Kate Mansi.) It was a decision that may have cost Jagger his life.
The Friday, August 30th episode of General Hospital ended in a shocking cliffhanger. Sonny confronted Jagger for going after Kristina. In a mob boss move, Sonny shot Jagger right in the chest. But he wasn’t done yet.
As Jagger was on the ground, Sonny took another shot at his enemy.

Viewers were left hanging over Jagger’s fate, but Adam J. Harrington seemed to hint his days on the soap were done.
He took to Twitter to share a peaceful photo of a beautiful sunset. “Good night all…..,” he wrote. ABC has yet to confirm if the actor is leaving for good, but the cryptic tweet spoke for itself.
Heartbroken fans flooded the replies with their regret over the actor’s apparent exit. Viewers had a hard time accepting the Jagger recast at first, but the actor eventually won them over.
One fan wrote, “Very sorry to see you go, you did a great job. GH’s loss.” Another added, “So sad to see you go but GH is a mess right now so u may be better off.”
General Hospital fans are still struggling with the news that Kelly Monaco was fired after over two decades on the show.
