General Hospital Comings & Goings: Jacqueline Grace Lopez Confirms Exit
Lopez posted a long goodbye on Instagram.
In the Tuesday, August 13 episode of General Hospital, Blaze left town to tour with Ricky Martin’s Miguel Morez, a move designed to resuscitate her scandal-filled music career. However, before Blaze blazed a trail away from Port Charles, Kristina broke up with her, and the singer fired her mom, Natalia. Today, Jacqueline Grace Lopez announced her departure from GH.
A Heartfelt Goodbye Message
Lopez posted the news of her departure on social media, along with photos and videos featuring her behind the scenes of the show where she’s worked for the since 2022.
In her post, the actress seemed sad yet grateful for the experience. “Not gonna lie, this goodbye hurts. I think because I didn’t see it coming. That and when you spend almost two years with this group, you start to feel like part of the fabric,” she began. “I’m so grateful to Frank for asking me back. I am grateful to everyone I got to tell stories with, both in front and behind the camera. This cast and crew work so hard and have taught me so much. Jobs come and go, but it’s the people you miss. I’m definitely going to miss this bunch.”
One of the things that Lopez is most proud of is being someone who could represent her community. “I’ve mentioned that as a brown girl, it’s so hard to see ourselves in media, period. To have writers introduce Latiné story elements because of my character? Even adding a Latiné last name to my character’s name? Getting onscreen family and backstory as a non-contract actor? Being a part of the opening titles?! Turning a 10 episode part into almost two years??? Babyyy, she done did that! Sometimes we have to be the change we don’t see.✨”
What is important to her is for people to feel seen because of her presence on GH. But she also made sure to talk to the fans in her message. “GH FANS!!! 🥹 My heart is so full. Especially fans that embraced Blaze’s journey as a gay woman and formed community around each other as a result: Y’all got me through some moments.”
“I poured myself into this story because I knew it was going to matter,” she continued. “I just didn’t know how much. You have humbled me, reminding me the need for feeling seen onscreen is absolutely universal to all marginalized communities. I learned that through Allie. Through you. Thank you for sharing your stories, your words of encouragement, and for the generous gifts! Know I carry all of that with me always. I hope I did right by you. That’s all I wanted to do.”
Lopez’s costar, Tabyana Ali (Trina) already replied to her post, saying, “I love you to the moon back! I am so grateful to God to have put you in my life!! Im really lucky to know you!! The GH halls are not going to be the same without you.”
Rena Sofer (Lois) also commented: “My heart hurts. I love you endlessly!!!” And same with Eden McCoy (Josslyn), who wrote, “You’re amazing love you beyond 🫀 how lucky to have crossed your path!!!!”
Blaze’s last act on the show was grieving the loss of her relationship with Kristina (Kate Mansi) and cutting her mom loose after the woman interfered one too many times in her life and career.
We’ll keep you updated on any further details of this breaking story.
