We were lucky we’d already had not a cup but a whole pot of joe when we saw the picture that General Hospital leading lady Kirsten Storms posted to Instagram on August 8. In it, she looks like she’s wearing half of a mud mask or has just gone nine rounds with a… we can’t imagine what.

Thankfully, nothing really dreadful had happened to the fan favorite. In fact, she called it “one of those ‘funny story, but not funny when I need coffee’ moments… I’ve opened several canisters of illy [brand] coffee tins, and never have the grounds exploded out of that cute metal container.”

Which is exactly what happened here. “There is a first time for everything,” sighed Maxie’s portrayer, who certainly hadn’t lost her sense of humor about the sitch. “I can say with certainty that I prefer my coffee brewed in hot water or over ice… Straight from the container doesn’t taste that good.”

Upon scrolling past Storms’ post, castmate Finola Hughes (Anna) stopped in her tracks. “I thought it was a General Hospital storyline!” she exclaimed. “I’m thinking, ‘Who would dare to give Maxie a black eye?’”

Before closing out this edition of Storytime With Kirsten, the actress made sure to note that it wasn’t the coffeemaker’s fault that she wound up with a face full of grounds, it was strictly user error. “In their defense, there is a warning on the lid.” Not only that, but “it’s written in several languages.”
