Jacqueline Grace Lopez reveals what a General Hospital milestone means to her
As Blaze’s life goes up in flames on General Hospital, Jacqueline Grace Lopez celebrates an amazing accomplishment.
Alison Rogers Ramirez, the artist currently known as Blaze, arrived in Port Charles in 2022 to record a few duets with Chase when she was still one of Linc Brown’s clients. In 2023, Blaze and Brook Lynn helped expose Linc, who sexually harassed both women. Blaze then disappeared for a few months, but when she returned to Port Charles, Jacqueline Grace Lopez turned her into a full-fledged character to root for.
Now Blaze is front and center as Kristina’s girlfriend who Ava just “outed” by leaking a recording to the press of Blaze’s mother making homophobic remarks. Natalia’s words hurt Blaze to her core. She also resented her mother for convincing her to remain in the closet under the misguided notion that coming out would hurt her music career.
However, Lopez’s own family had something to celebrate with her just days before the Invader story caused chaos in her character’s life.
On June 28, Lopez finally appeared in the GH opening credits. The actress shared a video of her family cheering as her pic appeared on-screen. She began the post with a photo of her wearing a dance recital costume as a child. Lopez narrated the video, detailing why this moment meant so much to her.
“Growing up in the 90s I was this little Filipino Latina with big buck teeth and glasses since the third grade,” Lopez said. “I think I got contacts maybe in junior high. I never really saw myself represented in anything. And now that I am older, I really see how that contributed to my feeling invisible.”
Lopez went on to explain that she hoped to be an inspiration to kids who feel as she did when she was younger.
“So, to get this moment, to realize that there might be some kid home from school or someone who sees something that looks like them. If that can help them dream big, I know that would have helped me and that means everything.”
